Structured Botanics is an original contemporary neutral abstract diptych by Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026.
The artwork consists of two 60 × 60 cm acrylic paintings on canvas, forming a dynamic composition where geometric structure meets expressive botanical forms. While creating this diptych, I wanted to explore the contrast between order and spontaneity. I began with broad vertical and horizontal passages that form an architectural framework, then allowed loose black lines and expressive white forms to interrupt this structure. Gradually, these marks began to suggest abstract flowers emerging through a geometric grid.
I deliberately avoided making the two canvases symmetrical. Instead, they respond to one another through repeated shapes, colors and gestures. The result is a visual conversation between geometry and nature, structure and movement, precision and freedom. The surface was developed with professional acrylic paints using brushes, palette knives, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, layering, splattering, dripping and gestural line work. Transparent layers overlap with opaque passages, creating depth while preserving the spontaneous character of the composition.
The sophisticated neutral palette combines warm brown, chocolate, espresso, burnt umber, taupe, beige, greige, smoky grey, charcoal, black, ivory, off-white and white. These earthy neutrals make the diptych particularly versatile for contemporary interiors while the contrasting black and white gestures give it a distinctive graphic presence.
The central organic forms can be interpreted as flowers, fragments of vegetation or simply bursts of expressive energy. This ambiguity is important to me—I prefer the viewer to discover a personal meaning rather than receive a fixed narrative.
Displayed together, the two 60 × 60 cm canvases create an artwork approximately 120 × 60 cm, excluding the space between the panels. Structured Botanics is particularly suited to Modern, Contemporary, Organic Modern, Japandi, Minimalist and sophisticated neutral interiors.
Both paintings are unique, one-of-a-kind original artworks, signed on the front and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
