Stillpoint Structure is an original contemporary abstract painting created in 2026.
This large 120 × 90 cm artwork explores the relationship between architectural structure, reflection, and open space through layered textures and a sophisticated neutral palette.
While creating this painting, I was fascinated by the point where solid forms begin to lose their boundaries. A strong horizontal line crosses the composition while vertical elements continue through it like reflections, creating a subtle dialogue between structure and movement.
I built the surface gradually with multiple layers of professional acrylic paint, using palette knives, brushes, scraping, glazing, and expressive mark-making. Some layers were partially removed or covered again, allowing traces of previous stages to remain visible. This process gives the painting tactile depth and creates subtle changes in the surface as the surrounding light shifts throughout the day.
The palette combines ivory white, warm beige, taupe, greige, stone grey, charcoal, black, and earthy brown. Cool grey areas contrast with warmer sand and mocha tones, while the white passages bring light and openness to the composition. Dark architectural lines provide structure and visual rhythm.
Although entirely abstract, Stillpoint Structure may evoke reflections on water, contemporary architecture, distant structures, weathered surfaces, or a minimalist landscape reduced to its essential forms. I intentionally leave these associations open, allowing each viewer to discover a personal interpretation within the painting.
With its generous horizontal format, Stillpoint Structure creates a sophisticated focal point above a sofa, console, bed, or dining area. Its elegant neutral palette works beautifully with Contemporary, Japandi, Organic Modern, Minimalist, Wabi-Sabi, Modern Classic, and luxury interiors.
For me, Stillpoint Structure represents the moment when movement and structure briefly meet — creating a sense of stability, space, and visual calm.
