Azure Tidal Layers is an original contemporary abstract painting inspired by the shifting atmosphere of coastal landscapes.

While creating this piece, I focused on the feeling of open space where water, sky and land merge into one expansive view. Instead of depicting a specific location, I translated this impression into layered textures and flowing color fields that move across the canvas.
Soft azure blue and muted turquoise tones emerge through atmospheric greys and warm beige passages. Areas of deeper charcoal and earthy brown create visual grounding, while touches of natural ochre introduce warmth and depth. These contrasting tones interact across the surface, suggesting the movement of water and distant landforms.

The painting was developed through multiple layers of acrylic paint using palette knife techniques and textured brushwork. Thick expressive strokes are combined with smoother passages of paint, allowing light to move across the surface and reveal subtle variations in tone and structure.

From afar, the composition feels calm and expansive. Up close, the surface reveals intricate textures and layered details that reflect the physical process of painting.
