Where the Waters Remember is an original large abstract seascape diptych by contemporary artist Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026. Featuring two acrylic paintings on canvas, each measuring 85 × 120 cm, this textured artwork captures the beauty of changing skies, deep waters, and atmospheric landscapes.
I created this diptych inspired by the way water seems to hold memories of passing storms, fleeting sunlight, and distant shores. I wanted the two canvases to feel like different moments of the same landscape, connected by movement, color, and atmosphere. Rich layers of emerald green, forest green, turquoise, muted teal, and blue-grey meet luminous passages of ivory, soft white, and misty beige, accented by warm ochre, burnt sienna, earthy brown, and charcoal black.
Using palette knives and brushes, I combined layering, glazing, scraping, and expressive gestures to create textured surfaces, dramatic contrasts, and delicate reflections. Dark horizontal forms suggest distant shorelines, while softer passages dissolve into mist and changing light.
For me, this painting is about the quiet strength of nature and the beauty of moments that can never be repeated.
With its impressive 170 × 120 cm combined size, this contemporary abstract diptych creates a captivating focal point for modern living rooms, spacious bedrooms, and elegant interiors.
