Measuring 120 × 90 cm, this one-of-a-kind acrylic artwork combines warm beige, ivory, taupe, greige, stone grey, muted blue-grey, charcoal, and deep brown in a refined, architectural composition.
While creating this painting, I was thinking about surfaces that carry traces of time—weathered stone, old walls, fragmented architecture, and places where layers gradually reveal what came before. Rather than depicting a specific structure, I wanted to create the feeling of discovering something hidden beneath the surface: a line, a division, a mark that suggests another story.
The composition is built around the meeting of vertical and horizontal forms, creating a strong geometric framework without becoming rigid or symmetrical. Around this central structure, softer layers of color and texture introduce movement and atmosphere.
I developed the surface with professional acrylic paints using palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, layering, dripping, and fine gestural line work. Paint was repeatedly applied and partially removed, allowing earlier layers to remain visible and creating a naturally weathered, tactile effect.
The palette combines warm beige, ivory, cream, taupe, greige, stone grey, soft white, pale grey, muted blue-grey, charcoal, espresso brown, and black. Subtle shifts between warm and cool neutral tones give the artwork depth while preserving its calm and sophisticated character.
Lines Through Stone moves between geometric abstraction, architectural abstraction, and textured contemporary art. Its restrained palette and layered surface make it particularly suited to Modern, Minimalist, Japandi, Organic Modern, Scandinavian, and sophisticated neutral interiors.
