Currents of Amethyst is an original contemporary abstract painting by Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2023. Measuring 80 × 100 cm, this one-of-a-kind acrylic artwork is built around flowing forms, layered color, and a continuous sense of movement.

While creating this painting, I was fascinated by the way a single line can change its character as it travels across a surface. I allowed each sweeping brushstroke to respond to the previous one, gradually creating a composition that feels almost weightless. To me, these overlapping forms can suggest fabric moving in the air, currents beneath water, mineral layers shaped over time, or simply the rhythm of color itself. I intentionally left the image open to interpretation, so that its meaning can change with the viewer.

The palette moves through deep plum, aubergine, burgundy-purple, dusty mauve, lavender, lilac, soft grey, pearl white, and cool white. Darker passages create depth beneath the lighter sweeping forms, while pale lavender and white strokes introduce luminosity and contrast.

Created with professional acrylic paints using broad brushes, layered brushwork, glazing, blending, and long gestural strokes, the painting retains visible brush movement throughout the surface. The repeated curved forms guide the eye across the composition and give this large abstract artwork its distinctive sense of rhythm and fluidity.

With its sophisticated purple, mauve, plum, lavender, and white palette, the painting can become a striking statement piece in Modern, Contemporary, Minimalist, Eclectic, Art Deco, or Luxury interiors, particularly in living rooms, bedrooms, dressing rooms, creative spaces, and contemporary offices.

The original canvas measures 80 × 100 cm and is signed on the back. For safe and economical international transportation, the artwork is sold unstretched and shipped rolled in a protective tube.
