____________ Make An Offer ____________ Beyond the Shifting Light is an original large green and blue abstract landscape diptych by contemporary artist Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026.
The artwork consists of two 120 × 85 cm acrylic paintings on canvas, forming an atmospheric two-panel composition inspired by water, changing light, and the constantly shifting character of nature.
When I began this diptych, I was thinking about those brief moments when light completely transforms a familiar landscape. Clouds move, reflections appear across the water, colors deepen, and a place we know suddenly feels different. I wanted to capture that transition rather than paint a particular location.
I worked on both canvases simultaneously so that the landscape could move naturally from one panel to the other. The upper areas are open and atmospheric, combining ivory, soft white, warm beige, misty grey, pale blue, and blue-grey. Moving downward, the palette becomes deeper and more dramatic with forest green, muted teal, charcoal, blue-black, espresso brown, and earthy umber.
Small accents of warm ochre and burnt orange emerge between the cooler colors, suggesting fleeting sunlight touching water or distant land.
I developed the surfaces through multiple layers of professional acrylic paint using palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, dripping, and expressive gestural marks. Dense textured passages alternate with softer translucent areas, allowing the sense of light and atmosphere to change across the canvases. Horizontal forms suggest water, distant shorelines, reflections, and open landscape without defining a specific place. I intentionally kept these elements ambiguous. One viewer may imagine a coastline after rain, another a quiet lake beneath changing clouds, while someone else may simply experience the composition through color and movement. The two paintings were created as a single artwork but are not mirror images. Each panel has its own movement and atmosphere, while together they create a broader visual landscape. The space between them becomes part of the composition—a pause connecting two views of the same imagined environment.
Beyond the Shifting Light moves between abstract landscape, abstract seascape, atmospheric abstraction, and contemporary expressive painting. Its combination of deep green and blue tones with luminous neutral areas creates both visual depth and a strong sense of openness.
For me, this diptych is about the temporary nature of what we see: light changes the landscape, water changes the light, and for a brief moment a familiar place can become something entirely new.
Displayed together, the two 120 × 85 cm paintings create a large-scale composition approximately 170 × 120 cm, excluding the chosen space between the canvases.
This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original acrylic diptych, painted entirely by hand. Both canvases are signed on the front and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
The artwork is sold unstretched and shipped rolled together in a protective tube for safe international delivery. After arrival, the canvases can be stretched onto wooden stretcher bars by a local framing professional.
