Where Daylight Meets Water is an original blue abstract seascape painting by contemporary artist Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026 as part of the Crossing Light series.

Measuring 100 × 60 cm, this one-of-a-kind acrylic painting on stretched canvas combines luminous turquoise and blue with soft ivory, beige, grey, deep navy, and subtle mauve accents.

The idea behind my Crossing Light series comes from observing how light can completely change our perception of a landscape. A familiar stretch of water can look deep and dramatic beneath clouds and, only moments later, become luminous when daylight reaches its surface.

In this painting, I wanted to capture exactly that transition.

The composition moves from cooler, deeper passages of turquoise, azure blue, teal, blue-grey, and ocean blue toward an increasingly luminous area of soft white, ivory, pale cream, misty grey, and warm beige. Darker lines of navy, charcoal, and blue-black create depth and suggest distant land or the meeting point between water and sky.

At the center, a restrained passage of dusty mauve and muted magenta introduces an unexpected warmth among the blues. Small ochre-toned marks appear throughout the surface like brief flashes of reflected light.

I built the painting through multiple layers of professional acrylic paint using palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, dripping, and expressive gestural marks. Dense textured areas alternate with softer translucent passages, allowing earlier colors to remain visible beneath the surface.

Rather than painting a literal reflection, I use changes in texture, paint density, and tonal contrast to create the sensation of light moving across water.

Although Where Daylight Meets Water suggests sea, distant shoreline, sky, water, and reflection, it does not represent a specific place. I wanted the landscape to remain open enough for the viewer to connect it with a personal memory—a coastline after rain, a lake beneath an opening sky, or simply the feeling of looking toward a bright distance.
For me, this painting is about a fleeting moment when light crosses a landscape and makes something familiar appear completely new—the central idea behind the Crossing Light series.

Its 100 × 60 cm horizontal format creates a panoramic sense of openness, while the combination of luminous blue and turquoise tones with warm neutrals and dark contrasts makes the artwork a distinctive focal point for contemporary, coastal, minimalist, and modern interiors.

This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original acrylic painting, painted entirely by hand in 2026. It is signed on the front, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, and arrives stretched on wooden stretcher bars and ready to hang.
