Measured Silence is an original contemporary abstract diptych created in 2026.
Composed of two square acrylic paintings, each measuring 60 × 60 cm, this work explores the quiet relationship between architectural balance, expressive movement, and the emotional power of restraint.
While creating this diptych, I wasn't searching for dramatic contrasts. Instead, I wanted to build an atmosphere where every gesture had purpose and every empty space became as important as the painted surface itself. I imagined two independent compositions slowly finding equilibrium, connected by rhythm rather than symmetry.
Each painting developed through numerous layers of professional acrylic paint. I worked with palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques and expressive gestural mark-making, allowing previous layers to emerge naturally beneath newer ones. Some passages remain smooth and translucent, while others carry rich texture and subtle relief, creating surfaces that continuously change under natural light. The palette is intentionally refined and timeless, combining warm taupe, espresso brown, mocha, greige, stone grey, ivory white, charcoal black and soft beige. Structured geometric planes create visual stability, while spontaneous black calligraphic lines move freely across the composition, introducing energy and unpredictability.
Although entirely abstract, Measured Silence may evoke architectural fragments, weathered walls, distant landscapes, reflections, delicate branches or traces of handwriting. Rather than describing a specific place, the diptych invites quiet contemplation and personal interpretation.
This balance between measured composition and intuitive gesture defines much of my artistic practice. I am fascinated by the point where architecture begins to feel organic and where abstraction allows emotion to emerge without narrative.
Together the paintings create a sophisticated contemporary composition approximately 120 × 60 cm before spacing. Their elegant neutral palette makes them ideal for Japandi, Organic Modern, Minimalist, Scandinavian, Wabi-Sabi, Contemporary Luxury and Modern Classic interiors.
Whether displayed above a console, bed, dining table or in a professional office, Measured Silence creates a calm architectural focal point that reveals new details every time it is viewed.
