Where Water Meets the Earth is an original large blue and beige abstract seascape diptych by Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026.

The artwork consists of two 80 × 120 cm acrylic paintings on canvas, forming an impressive contemporary composition approximately 160 × 120 cm when displayed together, excluding the space between the panels.

While creating this diptych, I was inspired by the places where water and land seem to lose their boundaries. I imagined an open shoreline after the movement of the tide—shallow water reflecting the sky, fragments of wet earth, distant blue expanses, and warm traces of sand appearing between them.

I wanted the two paintings to feel connected without becoming mirror images. Each canvas has its own rhythm, yet horizontal passages of color and texture continue visually from one panel to the other. Together, they create the feeling of looking across an expansive landscape rather than at a single fixed view.

The palette combines soft aqua blue, pale turquoise, blue-grey, deep navy, charcoal, warm white, ivory, cream, beige, taupe, smoky grey, espresso brown, burnt umber, rust, and ochre. Luminous blues and whites bring openness to the composition, while darker and warmer earth tones create depth and contrast.

I developed the surfaces with professional acrylic paints using palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, layering, dripping, and expressive impasto applications. Dense textured areas alternate with softer atmospheric passages, allowing the paintings to change visually depending on the light and viewing distance.

From across the room, Where Water Meets the Earth may suggest sea, shoreline, clouds, and reflections. Viewed closely, the landscape dissolves into expressive layers of color, texture, and gesture. I deliberately leave this transition between abstract seascape and contemporary landscape open to personal interpretation.

With its substantial overall scale, this large abstract diptych is designed to become a focal point in a living room, dining room, bedroom, entrance hall, office, or other spacious contemporary interior. Its combination of blue and sophisticated neutral earth tones works particularly well with Contemporary, Modern, Coastal, Organic Modern, Japandi, and neutral interiors.

Both canvases are unique, one-of-a-kind original paintings, signed on the front and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Please note: Both paintings are sold unstretched and shipped rolled together in a protective tube for safe and economical international delivery. After arrival, the canvases can be stretched onto wooden stretcher bars by a local framing professional.
