Coastal Alignment is an original contemporary abstract painting from my Oceanic Geometry collection, created in 2026. This one-of-a-kind artwork explores the quiet meeting point between architecture and the sea, where geometric structure softens into reflections, light, and open space.
While creating this painting, I wasn't trying to represent a specific coastline. Instead, I wanted to express the atmosphere of contemporary waterfront architecture—the moment when solid forms dissolve into water and the horizon becomes almost invisible. Through layered textures and balanced composition, I translated that feeling into an abstract visual language that feels both calm and powerful.
Built with multiple layers of professional acrylic paint, the artwork combines palette knife techniques, expressive brushwork, scraping, and textured mark-making to create exceptional depth and movement. The tactile surface interacts beautifully with natural light, revealing subtle details and tonal variations throughout the day.
The colour palette combines soft sky blue, muted ocean blue, ivory white, warm beige, taupe, stone grey, charcoal black, and rich espresso brown. Cool blues evoke still water and expansive skies, while the darker architectural elements introduce structure, contrast, and stability. Together they create a sophisticated balance that feels timeless and contemporary.
Although entirely abstract, Coastal Alignment often reminds collectors of modern marinas, waterfront architecture, reflective harbours, distant horizons, and peaceful coastal landscapes.
