After the Rain Clears is an original large green and beige abstract landscape painting by contemporary artist Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026.
Measuring 120 × 85 cm, this one-of-a-kind acrylic painting on canvas combines atmospheric grey and beige tones with emerald green, forest green, teal, charcoal, white, and warm ochre accents, evoking water and a landscape emerging after rain. When I began this painting, I was thinking about the moment when a storm has passed but the landscape has not yet become completely calm. Heavy clouds still remain, water reflects their changing colors, and everything seems deeper and more saturated. Then light begins to return, slowly transforming the entire scene.
I wanted to capture that transition rather than paint a particular place.
The upper part of the composition develops through layers of soft grey, blue-grey, ivory, warm beige, taupe, pale blue, and muted sage. Their irregular textures create an atmospheric sky that seems to be constantly shifting.
Across the center, horizontal passages of white, pearl grey, pale beige, and cool grey-blue suggest light moving across water. Darker lines interrupt these luminous areas, creating impressions of distant land, shoreline, and reflection without defining them literally. The lower part becomes richer and more dramatic, moving into emerald green, deep forest green, muted teal, charcoal, blue-black, dark brown, and earthy umber. These darker colors give the composition depth and create a striking contrast with the luminous center.
Warm touches of ochre, burnt orange, rust, and earthy brown appear between the cooler tones. These are natural warm pigments rather than metallic gold, suggesting wet earth or brief fragments of sunlight reaching the landscape.
I built the painting through multiple layers of professional acrylic paint using palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, dripping, and expressive gestural marks. Some passages are dense and tactile, while others remain softer and more transparent, revealing traces of earlier layers beneath the surface. This process is important to my work. I often paint, remove, cover, and rebuild sections until the surface begins to carry its own history. From a distance, the composition reads as an atmospheric abstract landscape; viewed closely, it reveals irregular edges, scraped paint, subtle drips, layered colors, and spontaneous marks.
Although the painting suggests water, sky, distant shoreline, reflections, and changing weather, it does not represent a specific location. I prefer to leave enough ambiguity for the viewer to discover a personal landscape within it—a coastline after rain, a quiet lake, wetlands beneath a dramatic sky, or perhaps a place remembered from a journey.
For me, After the Rain Clears is about the subtle transformation that happens when difficult weather begins to pass. The storm has left its traces, but the first light is already returning. The 120 × 85 cm vertical format gives the artwork a strong presence while retaining a sense of distance and openness. Its combination of luminous neutrals, sophisticated greys, deep emerald green and warm earth tones makes it particularly suited to collectors drawn to contemporary abstract landscapes, atmospheric seascapes, textured paintings, and nature-inspired abstract art.
