____________ Make An Offer ____________ Fragments of Structure is an original large neutral abstract diptych by contemporary artist Tatiana Malinovscaia, created in 2026.
The artwork consists of two 120 × 90 cm acrylic paintings on canvas, forming a striking two-panel composition in beige, ivory, white, taupe, grey, charcoal, and deep brown.
I created this diptych while thinking about how fragments of architecture can remain recognizable even when most of the original structure disappears. A vertical line, an intersection, the edge of a wall, or a partially erased surface can be enough for our imagination to reconstruct an entire space.
Both canvases were developed together as one composition. Strong vertical and horizontal forms establish an architectural rhythm, while irregular edges, expressive marks, and layered surfaces gradually disrupt this geometry. The panels are connected visually without mirroring each other, allowing each painting to maintain its own character. The sophisticated neutral palette combines warm beige, sand, ivory, cream, taupe, greige, soft white, stone grey, charcoal, espresso brown, black, and subtle blue-grey accents. Warm earth tones alternate with cooler greys, creating depth while maintaining a calm and refined overall atmosphere.
I built the surfaces through multiple layers of professional acrylic paint, working with palette knives, brushes, glazing, scraping, dry-brush techniques, dripping, and fine gestural lines. Paint was repeatedly applied and partially removed, revealing earlier layers beneath the surface. The result is a richly textured composition filled with subtle traces, scratches, transitions, and imperfections.
For me, Fragments of Structure is about the relationship between order and imperfection. The geometric framework suggests stability, while the distressed surfaces and spontaneous marks introduce movement and change. Viewed from a distance, the diptych feels restrained and balanced; from closer range, its layered textures reveal a much more complex visual history.
With two 120 × 90 cm panels, the artwork creates a substantial wall composition approximately 180 × 120 cm, plus the chosen space between the canvases. Its neutral beige and grey palette works beautifully in contemporary, minimalist, Japandi, organic modern, and sophisticated modern interiors.
This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original abstract diptych, painted entirely by hand. Both canvases are signed on the front and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
The paintings are sold unstretched and shipped rolled together in a protective tube for safe international delivery. After arrival, they can be stretched onto wooden stretcher bars by a local framing professional.
