Crossing Light Fields

This painting began with a meeting of directions—lines crossing, planes opening, and space forming between them.

I worked intuitively, allowing the composition to build itself layer by layer. Soft whites and light greys created the foundation, while cool blue tones emerged through the surface. Deeper brown and charcoal elements formed a central structure, giving the painting a sense of grounding and tension.

Using both brush and palette knife, I applied, softened, and partially removed the paint, creating areas that feel both smooth and textured. Some parts remain quiet and open, while others carry more weight—holding traces of movement and change.

What draws me most to this piece is the way it holds space. It doesn’t define a scene, but it suggests one—an open field shaped by subtle shifts in color and structure.

The palette—blue, white, beige, grey, and earthy brown—brings calm and refinement, making the painting easy to live with while still offering depth and presence.

At 120 × 80 cm, the work has a strong but elegant scale. It becomes a focal point without overwhelming the room, adding structure, light, and a quiet sense of direction to the space.
This painting is created to evolve with its surroundings—to respond to light, to shift throughout the day, and to reveal new layers over time.
